Every first Thursday of the month, Pink stays up late for Fashion First and offers cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to shoppers and possibly a special sale or a trunk show.

If you’ve been to Carytown you probably have seen (or been in) Pink. The bold and ever-changing window displays of Pink, designed by Ken Langston, co-owner of Austin’s Salon and Day Spa, look like they belong in New York City. Langston designs the windows as a hobby on his day off from work and they have been everything from a watermelon shrine with Frida Kahlo in the center to Marie Antoinette inspired. Formally named Pink Cadillac, co-owners Libby Sykes and Deborah Boschen changed the name when they shifted the image of the boutique from funky to contemporary, Sykes said.

The boutique is always changing itself to keep up with the trends. Along with two floors of clothing, Pink also carries shoes and accessories. Next in will be a collection of jewelry from Turkey, Sykes said. Also, representatives of Pink will be coming to the University of Richmond tailgates this year; some may have noticed the women at the Pink table last weekend who were handing out pink coozies. Check out the blog on the store’s Web site for photos of the tailgate.

Pink is now carrying a lot of clothing in the price-range that students can afford, Sykes said. The clothes are still high quality but sold at a lower price. Shoppers can find everything from Marc by Marc Jacobs to less expensive lines such as Velvet and Plastic Island.
