Live-blogging: VP Debate 2008

Collegian to live-blog VP debate with reaction, live-commenting from students

Published: October 2, 2008, 2:59 am ET

Online managing editor Kimberly Leonard and online reporter David Larter will be live-blogging during the vice presidential debate from Whitehurst Living Room, beginning just before the debate’s 9 p.m. EDT scheduled start.

Online editor Dan Petty will again be blogging for The New York Times along with 18 other student newspaper editors from around the country. He last blogged for The Times during the presidential debate Friday, providing reaction and commentary as it related to the university.

Joining The Collegian staff members will be four Richmond students who will provide commentary and their reactions about what Sen. Joeseph Biden, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, say during the debate.

They include liberal commentators Daniel Colosimo and Darius Rasheed Nazeri. Nazeri is the president and coordinator of UR Students for Barack Obama. Conservative commentators Amy Saucier and Nathanial Goodman will also provide analysis and reaction. Saucier is working for Rep. Eric Cantor’s re-election campaign in Richmond.

Collegian staff members will also be shooting video responses of reactions from students after the debate. Look for those videos sometime Friday evening, and check with The Collegian Web site around 8:45 p.m. for pre-debate introductions and thoughts.

Fireman, you have no guarantees that we're screwed if Palin were in office.

Terese you have no grantees that he will not die in offices, she may become President if, we do elected McCain and if, that does happen we are all screwed.

She was sensational...and Wendy, proper english doesn't mean you can do the job. Obama may know how to speak but that is about as far as he goes.

I don't want an english teacher, i want an effective leader and btw she isn't going to be President.

I may scream if Palin utilizes improper grammar or the word Maverick again. Until I heard her speak for myself, I disregarded the opinions of her negative critics. The jury is out and I have no respect for her at this point.

I give your original attempt a firm C-.

If I hear the word Maverick or incorrect English one more time from Palin, I'm going to scream. I haven't listen to the people saying she is "stupid" until I heard her speak and judged for myself. Well, the jury is out and I have absolutely no respect for her at this point.
