Downtown Express Shuttle

The Downtown Express Shuttle runs Fridays and Saturdays and makes stops in Carytown and Shockoe Slip. The Downtown Express shuttle runs until midnight.

Cabs in Shockoe Slip at 2 a.m. are difficult to find, so be sure to call 45 minutes to an hour before you want to leave.

Spider Shuttle

The Spider Shuttle runs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and leaves from outside the first floor of the Commons on the Richmond College side. It stops at the Village Shopping Center (Ukrops, CVS, ABC Store), Short Pump Town Center and Stony Point Fashion Park, Wal-Mart and many other great locations! Check out the schedule below.

Carytown

Carytown offers dozens of quality clothing shops, bars and restaurants. Find used books at Chop Suey, eat delicious authentic Thai cuisine at Mom's Siam, and catch a $1.99 movie at the Byrd Theater, all while visiting this diverse and fun neighborhood.

Cary Street is also lined with shops and boutiques, including American Apparel, Pink, Clementine and Need Supply. There is also a large number of vintage and consignment stores in Carytown.

Don't miss Can Can for a fine dining experience, Coppola's Delicatessen for great Italian Subs, Bev's homemade icecream (and homemade hot fudge), or Karsen's for brunch.

The Fan

The Fan is the area in between Downtown Richmond and Carytown. It is named for the way the streets form the shape of a fan on a map. This area includes Broad Street, Monument Avenue and Main Street, intersected by Boulevard. VCU is located at the bottom of the fan. The fan includes a number of restuarants and the museum district, which includes the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, on Grove.

Great restaurants in the fan include Starlight Lounge, Three Monkeys and Sticky Rice, all three are on Main Street.

The fan is home to a number of art galleries. This includes the Reynolds Gallery, 1708 Gallery, The Visual Arts Center and Main Art Supply.

Libbie and Grove

A great neighborhood that is close to Richmond and full of boutiques and cafes is the intersection of Libbie and Grove. Excellent cafes include Palani Drive, Philip's Continental Lounge, Stuffy's Subs and Joe's Market.

Shockoe Slip

Shockoe slip is the entertainment center of Richmond with fine dining, thousands of types of beers and great nightclubs within walking distance of where the Downtown Express Shuttle drops you off.

Sine Irish Pub and Restaurant is a great for dinner and for drinks later. It is located on 1327 E. Cary St. Nearby is Richbrau Brewing Company, The Tobacco Company, Europa and many other great restaurants.

Clubs in downtown Richmond include Element Bar and Lounge, Tiki Bob's and Have a Nice Day. There are also great music venues including Toad's Place and the National.

Short Pump

If you head down I64 West and exit at Short Pump, or follow Broad, you will get to the Short Pump Mall and Town Center. This includes an outdoor mall housing stores including J.Crew, Urban Outfitters, South Moon Under, H&M, Victoria's Secret and Nordstrom.

The Short Pump area is also home to a Cheesecake Factory, Bertucci's, Chili's and other large chain restaurants, including a Whole Foods.

Stony Point

Stony Point is another of Richmond's outdoor malls. Located down Huguenot and off of Chippenham Parkway, there you will find an Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Saks, Louis Vuitton. Restaurants include P.F. Changs, Chipotle and Brio Tuscan Grill.

Regency Sqaure

This mall includes a Forever 21, Sephora, Express and Williams Sonoma. Restaurants include Texas de Brazil, and a food court with a Chick-fil-A, Sbarro and others.

Richmond Museums

As the capital of the South and the capital of Virginia, Richmond has a significant place in history. To show this history the city houses a number of museums. The is the Museum of the Confederacy, Edgar Allen Poe Museum, Black History Museum, Virginia Holocaust Museum, Valentine Richmond History Center, Beth Ahabah Museum and Archives, and the John Marshall House Museum.

Other museums are the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Science Museum of Virginia and the Children's Museum of Richmond.

Richmond Parks

There are numerous parks and recreation areas in Richmond. A favorite is Maymont which includes 100 acres of gardens, including a Japanese Garden and an Italian Garden.

There is also Byrd Park which includes a Fountain Lake and waterfowl on Swan Lake.

Over the Huguenot bridge you can access the James River Park System , which offers opportunities for kayaking, canoing and hiking.
