Live blog: Richmond vs. South Alabama

D. Taylor holds the ball in the final seconds of the game. The Spiders were able to pull out the win this evening over the South Alabama Jaguars 65-54. K. Anthony led the Spiders with 18 points. T.J. Cline scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. 

1:19 -- T. Allen connects for three points in front of the Richmond bench. Spiders lead 62-52. 

2:45 -- K. Anthony at the foul line for the Spiders makes one of two foul shots. Spiders lead 57-50. 

At the final media time out the Spiders have the lead over the Jaguars 52-48. 

4:58 -- K. Anthony buries a jumper from right inside the three-point line. South Alabama's G. Boyanov makes a tough move on the block and scores over A. Nelson-Ododa. 

Both teams are struggling from three-point range in the second half. Richmond's bench is offering crucial points in tonight's game. T. Allen's free throws put the Spiders up two. 

6:45 -- T. Allen fights for a baseline reverse layup which ties the ball game back up. 

7:39 -- Another Jaguar basket puts them in the lead 46-44. 

9:09 -- A three-pointer from Jaguar player K. Williams ties the ball game up at 44. 

11:08 -- T.J. Cline finds T. Allen on the opposite block for two points. South Alabama is hanging around but the Spiders lead 44-41. 

11:51 -- After a series of three offensive rebounds for the Spiders, S. Jones finds T.J. Cline in the middle of the lane who floats a shot over defenders for two points. Spiders lead 42-39.

13:30 -- S. Jones finger rolls one over the front of the rim for two points. South Alabama responds with a layup of their own. Spiders lead 40-35. 

15:37 -- Going into the first media time out of the second half, the Spiders cannot get a break on both the defensive and offensive end.

At halftime the Spiders lead the Jaguars (28-25). South Alabama is out-rebounding Richmond 22-17. The Jaguars are just 2-11 from three-point range and shooting the ball 33.3 percent. The Spiders have been able to score nine of their 28 points in transition. D. Taylor is the only player in foul trouble with three in the first half. Sophomore guard S. Jones leads the Spiders with nine points so far. The Spiders need to find a rhythm offensively not only for the sake of the game, but for their season as conference play is just around the corner. 

:12 -- Cline grabs a rebound off a missed jump shot and turns back around to finish with a baby hook. The Jaguars respond with a dunk after a missed jumper as time expires. 

2:21 -- S. Jones hits a two-dribble pull-up from the corner. He has six points so far. 

5:38 -- K. Anthony is too fast for South Alabama. He beats two defenders down the court for two points.  Spiders lead the Jaguars 19-11. 

8:30 -- The Spiders go on a 10-0 run after the three-pointer that is good for K. Anthony. 

10:50 -- The Spiders come out of the media time out with a purposeful attacking offense. Cline muscles in two points down low. 

12:27 -- J. Jones finds the bottom of the net on a deep and contested three-pointer. 

14:41 -- After four minutes pass, the Jaguars connect for two points. Spiders lead 4-2. 

16:29 -- Cline with a strong turn-around baby hook in the left block that is good for two points. At the first media time out the Spiders lead the Jaguars 4-0. 

19:12 -- T.J. Cline with the first bucket of the game. Both teams looking to get the ball down low in the first possessions. 

Hello everyone and happy holidays, my name is Olivia Healy and I will be covering tonight's basketball game between the Richmond Spiders and the South Alabama Jaguars. We are about 10 minutes away from tip-off in the Robins Center. The last time out on the court, the Spiders  couldn't find any momentum in their offense. It will be interesting to see if the Spider offense has found any flow after five days of practice.
