Traynor, competing in nationals for the first time, will race in the women's 5,000-meter run on Wednesday. She will also blog about the experience.

Sophomore Nicol Traynor has earned a bid to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5,000-meter run, the fifth Spider all-time and the first distance runner in six years to represent Richmond at the meet.

In the fall of 2004, the University of Richmond men's track and field team consisted of two upperclassmen and a wideeyed group of freshmen. At the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships, the Spiders could barely field a team; competing with seven racers, four of whom were freshmen.
