As the colors of fall painted campus in warm hues, local vendors brought the University of Richmond to life during Harvest Week's vendor fair. On Nov. 1, several local vendors set up their booths and colorfully displayed their products in the Tyler Haynes Commons, where students learned about their businesses and tasted their delicious, locally made products.

In the most recent response to a bias report, Vice President for Student Development Steve Bisese sent out an email on October 26 alerting the UR campus that after the demonstration and counter-protest, students have reported incidents of name-calling and offensive social media posts. The Collegian looked into the new bias reporting pilot system introduced in the beginning of this semester.

Dressed in a stuffy, over-sized spider costume, 5-foot-tall Destiny LeVere Bolling, ‘16, danced to upbeat music and high-fived cheering fans before a home University of Richmond basketball game. Webstur, UR’s mascot, had a special place in Bolling’s heart, which compelled her to volunteer for the role at least once during her student years. Little did the fans know, beneath that fluffy arachnid exterior was a future politician passionate about altruism and advocacy.

Roughly 50 students, faculty and staff from different faiths gathered on Friday, Oct. 27 in front of Cannon Memorial Chapel to support the University of Richmond’s Muslim community in prayer and to honor the Palestinian lives lost in the past weeks because of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Almost a year ago today, several students walked into the Heilman Dining Center wearing sombreros and ponchos to raucously celebrate the arrival of Halloween and ended up defending themselves against accusations of cultural appropriation and racism. This year, on Oct. 24, in the same dining hall packed with diners talking about what to wear for Halloween, several students told The Collegian that they learned from last year.
