The University Dancers had the opportunity to work closely with choreographer Nathan Trice as he created a premiere dance piece for the dancers’ annual spring concert, Momentum.’Nathan Trice, who is a professional performer and teacher, has worked for major companies, ranging from MOMIX, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Joseph Holmes Chicago Dance Theater, Kevin Iega Jeff, Donald Byrd/The Group and Forces of Nature Dance Company.He then decided to launch his own company, Nathan Trice Rituals, a project-by-project dance theater, which was a platform to explore social, political or aesthetics ideas, he said.Trice’s mission is to serve those who seek the reflective importance of being human through artistic work that examines contemporary and historical dynamics of gender, identity and culture, said Anne Norman Van Gelder, who is the artistic director for University Dancers.Trice, who was in residence for 10 days until Thursday, Sept.17, held intensive rehearsals, in addition to working with as many dancers and students as his work allowed, Gelder said.Photos and Preface by Catherine McTiernan

On Tuesday, Kappa Alpha Theta hosted KATwalk, its annual philanthropy that supports the sorority's national philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates, which aids volunteers in their help for neglected or abused children that go through the court system. KATwalk is a runway event where local stores donate clothes for the models to wear and sell. During the second part of the night, various organizations get up on stage to give their take of what a runway appearance should look like. The teams are judged by Richmond faculty. After multiple delays and some frustration, University of Richmond completed its renovation of Pitt Field, home to Richmond's baseball team, last week. The Spiders, who faced an erratic and constantly changing schedule due to the renovations, celebrated the much-anticipated home opener with a massive win against Cornell on Tuesday. The Collegian borrowed a drone -- yes, a drone -- to capture shots of the new Pitt Field, whose playing surface is now synthetic turf rather than grass. Stay tuned for future arial footage of Pitt Field.
