This September, a group of girls stood outside their dorm in a large cluster waiting for a ride to a party. A salt and pepper-haired older man in a big van pulled over to offer them a ride. "Where y'all headed?" he asked as the girls entered the van without care or worry. LONDON -- For those of you who might have forgotten, Nov. 11, was Veterans Day. In the United States, the day is meant to honor all veterans who have served, both in peacetime and wartime. Unlike Memorial Day, which honors those who have died in service to their country, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service and acknowledge that all those who served have sacrificed and done their duty. Other countries celebrate this day as well, and over the past two weeks, I have been learning a lot about how Britons view the holiday.

Peter has been the manager of Alcoholic Beverage Control store No. 254 on Three Chopt Road for 12 years. Six days a week, he has sold some of the finest liquors to local residents as well as University of Richmond students. He's sold tequila on Tuesdays, whiskey on Wednesdays and plenty of Southern Comfort on Saturdays. But not once has he sold a drop of liquor on a Sunday.
