This summer, many University of Richmond students became part of a nationwide movement to abolish Greek life on college campuses. Dozens of members of Interfraternity Council fraternities and Panhellenic Council sororities disaffiliated from their organizations following the rise of an Abolish Richmond Greek Life movement, which began in the beginning of July with the inception of an Instagram account of the same name.

All of the members of the Panhellenic Council announced their resignations in a letter to Greek Life organization leaders today in light of the stories shared by the Abolish Richmond Greek Life Instagram page, according to a letter written by the Panhellenic Council obtained by The Collegian.

Last weekend, University of Richmond's Panhellenic Council, sorority presidents and Emerging Leaders from each sorority attended the Southeastern Panhellenic Conference in Atlanta, Ga. The conference brought together leaders from sororities at colleges across the southeastern United States.
