Students filled the Pier for The Sirens’ annual Holiday Concert on Wednesday evening. The Sirens, University of Richmond’s all-female a cappella group, has hosted this a cappella concert since its debut Holiday Concert in 1995.

The tradition of a cappella continues at University of Richmond with The Sirens' annual Holiday Concert on Dec. 3. The concert will feature all four of the university's a cappella groups – The Sirens, Choeur du Roi, The Octaves and Off the Cuff – at 9 p.m. in the Pier.

The Sirens, University of Richmond's all-female a cappella group, will be performing their 20th Anniversary Spring Concert this Saturday. It is expected to be the Sirens' biggest concert ever with more than 100 audience members, senior Hayden Stone said.

Three of the four University of Richmond a cappella groups will compete at the A Cappella Sing-Off in Busch Garden's Christmas Town on Dec. 6 and support local nonprofits Literacy for Life and the Williamsburg Choral Guild.

The Octaves had a barbershop-quartet feel to them, but with a modern twist, during their rehearsals for their spring concert. The only doo-wopping happened during warm-up, then it was on to more contemporary tunes such as "Fireflies" by Owl City and "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz - songs that set a mood for spring.
