Terrance West led No. 6 Towson (8-1, 4-1 CAA) to a 48-32 victory over Richmond (2-6, 0-4) Saturday in Robins Stadium.
Richmond (2-4, 0-2 CAA) fell at in-state rival James Madison (5-2, 2-1 CAA), 38-31, on Saturday, despite quarterback Michael Strauss throwing for 423 yards and two touchdowns.

Gardner-Webb kicker Jason Day made his fourth field goal of the game with 29 seconds remaining to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs over Richmond, 12-10. Richmond beat Gardner-Webb, 41-8, last season at E. Claiborne Robins Stadium.
The score was the same, but the number next to Richmond on the final box score was reversed.
Beating the second-ranked team in the country seemed unbelievable for unranked Richmond, and a fourth-quarter James Madison comeback nearly left the Spiders with a heartbreaking loss.

Storylines:
NORFOLK, Va. — Richmond tied the game at 28 during the fourth quarter thanks to a one-handed touchdown catch by wide receiver Stephen Barnette, but then Old Dominion scored two straight touchdowns to win, 42-28. The Spiders have now lost six straight and are now 3-6 this year. Richmond's defense, missing three starters before having another one leave the game on crutches, gave up 587 yards of offense to the Monarchs.
NORFOLK, Va. -- After coming back to tie the game at 28 early in the fourth quarter, University of Richmond was unable to score any more points, falling to Old Dominion University, 42-28, the Spiders' sixth straight defeat.

The Maine Black Bears came back from a 16-0 deficit to score 23 fourth-quarter points and win, 23-22, Saturday afternoon. It is Richmond's fourth-straight loss, all coming in Colonial Athletic Association play. Richmond was in range of a long field goal with under a minute left in the game, but quarterback Aaron Corp was sacked for 11 yards to put the Spiders at the Maine 44-yard line. His next two passes were incomplete to seal the victory for the Black Bears.
Richmond picked up a 23-21 upset win over Duke University Saturday night at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, N.C. Interim coach Wayne Lineburg picked up his first career win after taking over the position just 10 days before the start of the season. Richmond has now won the past three times it has traveled to Wallace Wade Stadium.
