The no. 17 University of Richmond Spiders watched a late lead and a shot at an upset slip away against no. 7 University of New Hampshire when the Wildcats scored a last-minute touchdown to beat Richmond 29-26. The Spiders had a total of 469 yards of offense, but wasted some scoring opportunities before watching senior quarterback Andy Vailas come in for the injured Sean Goldrich and lead New Hampshire to its comeback victory.

End of Game: Strauss fires over the middle to Reggie Diggs who trys to lateral to Brian Brown. However, the backward pitch falls to the turf though, and the clock winds down. The Spiders let a big one slip through their fingers as New Hampshire wins 29-26.

The Spiders earned the victory, 42-17, Saturday night in Robins Stadium against Hampton. While Strauss continued to display his talent, the true star of the game was Jacobi Green, who ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries. The defense made a high-powered Hampton offense look mediocre. Justin Williamson and Aaron Roane each recorded a sack, and the defense made one takeaway on a fumble.

After dominating in their first game of the season, the Richmond Spiders got a taste of their own medicine Saturday as the University of Virginia Cavaliers beat Richmond, 45-13. The Spiders came out swinging, taking the first possession of the game all the way to the redzone, but came away with only a field goal to show for it. On Virginia's first possession, the Richmond defense forced a punt after a single first down, but it was all Cavaliers from that point on.

The No. 17 Richmond Spiders will head to Charlottesville to face University of Virginia Saturday, coming off of a 55-10 victory over the Morehead State Eagles. After dominating in every facet of the game against the Eagles, the Spiders will need to perform at a near-perfect level to keep up with a Virginia team on the opposite end of the competitive spectrum than Morehead. That being said, let’s take a look at the three biggest storylines for Saturday's game.

Ginny Doyle, a senior guard on the women's basketball team, stepped to the foul line at the Robins Center looking to complete a three-point play against Old Dominion Jan. 22, 1992. Doyle had not missed a foul shot since March 1, 1991, so, naturally, her teammates anticipated a make.

Two of the three passengers who were in a deadly hot air balloon crash in Caroline, Va., Friday night were University of Richmond women's basketball staff members, according to the Henrico Citizen and additional sources.
