Professor Martin Bonadeo sits before the carillon, a two-tier keyboard in the upper reaches of Boatwright tower, scanning a sheet of wind direction data gathered by the Richmond airport. He is transforming the data into sound, by playing the wind readings as musical notes, and practicing for a week-long musical exploration that will begin Monday.

As part of her job as head of resource acquisitions and delivery at Boatwright Memorial Library, Anna Creech procures free trials of various database programs for student and faculty use. If these research products and collections meet the needs of students and faculty, as well as the functionality that librarians expect in interfaces, then Creech considers submitting a purchase request for permanent use of the programs.

Summer renovations of Boatwright Memorial Library include eight individual study rooms, a designated floor for silent study space, three remodeled bathrooms, additional power outlets, access to library offices and a new bell tower entrance as part of the university's master plan to expand the library in the next five years, said Lucretia McCulley, director of outreach services.
