On a dead-end street, a two-story split-level red brick house sits on a quiet street among its neighboring homes. The white paneling on its front facade allows the house to blend in with those surrounding it. An abandoned wooden play set hides in the corner of the backyard, while a few doors away a young boy runs around his yard.

I was supposed to be writing about Health Care this week. After my rebuttal in the last issue of The Collegian, I was hoping to lay the blueprint for a conservative, free-market solution that avoided a public option. Alas, my well-laid plans were dramatically torn asunder when I woke up Saturday night as a victim of what is perhaps the next great pandemic. A victim of the dreaded H1N1 virus? Nope, the legendary bed bug.

The University of Richmond's ranking with the Princeton Review has improved this year, with top marks in classroom experience and athletic facilities. But the university still sits among the top-20 schools with little interaction between those of different races or social classes.

What was last Friday? It was "the night the lodge went wrong." For some, the complications of a lodge being shut down ruined the night, but I had ended up experiencing the joy of random fun. Plus, being removed from the actual lodge while in the midst of a lodge mindset and atmosphere allowed for some (deep and meaningful) reflection about our campus' obsession with lodge parties.
