My daughter Meaghan was the star of the weekend as the University of Richmond's junior year Ring Dance took center stage last February. It is a wonderful event born of a longstanding tradition of women's pride at one of America's great educational institutions in one of our country's great southern cities.

Members of the Westhampton College class of 2013 took part in the annual Proclamation Night ceremony Sunday, Sept. 20. The ceremony featured a class photograph, a walk across campus, reflective speeches by upperclassmen and the signing of the Honor Code.

Steve Allred is scarcely two months into his tenure as the University of Richmond's provost, but already the gearwheels of his academic plans are being set in motion, from his proposal for increased cross-school collaboration to his initiative to hire a more diverse faculty and enhance its development.

When Dottie Lewis was an undergraduate at Westhampton College in the 1950s, men lived on the northern side of Westhampton Lake and women lived on the southern side.
During this week's Westhampton College Student Government meeting, held in the North Court Reception Room, senators encouraged freshmen to run for WCGA senate positions or for class of 2012 president. All positions for the class of 2011 are filled, but three 2010 Senate spots are open for juniors.
The Westhampton College Government Association met Wednesday evening in the North Court Reception Room and discussed meal plan changes and coming events, including the Ring Dance theme.
