So, there's this magical land, hidden deep in the forest, where you can play all day and try new activities that you probably cannot do in the "real world." Paddling a whitewater canoe down a Class III rapid, scrambling up a rock face, shooting arrows and cantering over jumps are normal occurrences. Sounds like fun, right?

While American baseball gets into full swing in the States and talks of NFL and NBA drafts flood ESPN and other sports media outlets, I can already hear the rumbles and cheers escaping South Africa like the booming thunder of a herd of elephants fleeing a pride of lions.

• During West Virginia University's Final Four game against Duke University, star-senior Da'Sean Butler injured his knee on a drive to the basket. Coach Bob Huggins then crouched next to the injured Mountaineer in a heartfelt effort to comfort him. Perhaps too heartfelt, as the sequence then went from an awww moment to an awwwkward one when Huggins gradually got closer and closer to his fallen player, even throwing a few ginger cheek caresses in for good measure. Luckily, an assistant coach was present to inform Huggins that a knee injury did not require mouth-to-mouth.

• One of the coaches in college basketball's biggest rivalry just channeled Benedict Arnold down along Tobacco Road. University of North Carolina coach Roy Williams said he thought Duke University could win the NCAA tournament, a comment that many Tar Heel faithful consider treason. When the band strikes up the fight song, "Spider Born and Spider Bred," I can honestly say that I embody that phrase. I have been a Spider fan since I was born: My parents are alumni; I live a hop, skip and a jump away from campus; I was one of those little kids who sled down the hill on cardboard boxes at football games at UR Stadium and who was ecstatic whenever I got a high-five from Spidey.

A flash of bright colors races across the field amidst yells, chants and screams from many girls. Girls viciously compete in a game of soccer. Pass, kick, score - one team goes wild while the other falls silent. It's an intramural night.
