University Communications sent out an email yesterday announcing major construction to the campus road network starting May 9. The changes, which will begin the day after graduation, are the third and final phase of construction detailed in the 2011 Campus Master Plan.

More than 620 students received funding this year as part of the Richmond Guarantee, a notable increase compared to roughly 500 students awarded in 2015. Despite only being its second year in existence, the Richmond Guarantee has managed to secure positions for University of Richmond students across the United States, Asia, Europe, South America and Africa.

On a sunny day in August 2015, Tim Cannon, a 2014 Richmond graduate, roller-skated around Venice Beach in nothing but his underwear, dancing and handing out compliments to strangers — “You smell like a ripe avocado” and “you look like Beyoncé” — all for the sake of promoting his app, called Brighten.

Madison Lawrence, a junior studying abroad at the National University of Ireland in Galway, was riding a tour bus headed to several medieval towns surrounding Brussels when she first became aware of the terror attacks on Tuesday, March 22. A few hours outside of the city limits, the bus pulled over to the side of the road and the tour guide told the passengers of the attacks on Zaventem Airport and a train near the Maelbeek metro station, which killed 32 people and injured 270 others.

University officials at the College of William & Mary confirmed on Jan. 30 that a student had contracted the Zika virus, which the World Health Organization recently declared as a global public health emergency.
