Jordan Trippeer spoke with Ryan Dunson who does vocals and plays the acoustic guitar for Rookie of the Year.
She steps out of the rain and into the coffee shop, wearing a sweater and jeans, carrying a red umbrella and an unexpected accessory. Sam, her toddler son, is perched happily on her hip and giggles with a wide grin.
Vitality, movement, freedom, naturalness, and individual spirit combine to create a presence called chi-yun. The 1500-year-old concept of chi-yun is controversial because of its subjective nature, but the 20 paintings now displayed in the "Chi-Yun, Breath Resonance in Contemporary Art" exhibit in the Lora Robins Gallery drip with it.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict breathes life into Wael El Sabour El Kader's art. Although he is inspired by nature, the Egyptian pyramids, and the "utopian society" of Alexandria, Egypt, he is most passionate when he speaks about Israel and Palestine.
