Women’s Soccer
The University of Richmond women’s soccer team lost 3-2 against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on President’s Field in a back-and-forth game on Sept. 10.

My first encounter with “book banning” happened when I was still a high school student. At the time, Young Adult fiction books surged in popularity among people my age.
Michaelangelo Antonioni’s “Red Desert” (1964, released in Italian as “Deserto Rosso”) opens with the image of a factory obscured. Obscured by the opening credits, the camera’s unfocused lens, but especially by the trails of smoke it ceaselessly spits out (oozing from every orifice it can find room for). With the first week of classes out of the way, it’s time to explore the events lined up for this week.
After an overtime loss to American University two days prior, the University of Richmond field hockey team defeated Georgetown University 4-1 Sept. 3, capping off a four-game homestand to start the season.
More than 6,000 were in attendance at Robins Stadium as the University of Richmond football team commenced their 2023 season against Morgan State University.
After a complete 3-0 victory over James Madison University, the University of Richmond field hockey team lost in overtime 2-1 at home against American University Sept. 1.
The University of Richmond Women’s soccer team tied 0-0 in a crowded home game against Radford University at President’s Field. After three scoreless games, the Spiders looked to bounce back at home.
After a 2-1 overtime loss to Longwood University in their season opener, the University of Richmond field hockey team bounced back with a 3-0 victory over James Madison University Aug. 27. Over 600 people were in attendance as the first whistle sounded, including members from other athletic teams at UR.
