Time to consider reprioritizing

"It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." - J. Krishnamurti It's true what that "gamer-guy-who-has-more-video-games-than-friends" quote says: Sometimes the end gets you thinking about the beginning. If I consider the beginnings of this semester, every class, every return to Richmond after breaks at home, has functioned as a sort of nail.

What lies ahead

When most people think about what waits for them down the road, they are filled with fear and anxiety.

Uncle Sam wants YOU to toke up!

Alice Chaosurawong/The Collegian Human nature should not be banned. A national initiative is underway on college campuses to significantly reduce the penalties for marijuana use. The Emerald Initiative, which was drafted by the nonprofit Safer Alternative for Enjoyable Recreation, calls on college and university presidents to consider reducing penalties for marijuana use.

To Harry Kalas, With Love

Last week I learned that Harry Kalas, the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies, passed away while preparing to call a Phillies victory over the Washington Nationals.

Tze Loo, an assistant professor of history at the University of Richmond, will travel to Tokyo, Japan, in July to continue research on the Shuri Castle at Waseda University through a yearlong fellowship. Loo, a native of Singapore, plans to continue her doctoral investigation about the use of cultural heritage in producing a pre-World War II Japanese identity.

Seriously?

This is in response to the article about the on-campus parking and the kiddies who were brilliant enough to reach $1,000 in fines.

Opinion

No truth in Day of Truth

I'll never forget the afternoon my brother Patrick told me he was gay. It was the summer before my junior year of high school, and Patrick, who had been out of college for more than a year, was visiting my family for the weekend from Washington, D.C.

Opinion

Not like Mike

Who is the most dominant athlete in the history of sports? This question is more or less impossible to answer because of the tremendous range of accomplishment and competition across everything that we consider to be sport.

Letter: A word from the business factory

I read Maura Bogue's opinion piece last week in The Collegian and found it entertaining. With humor, stereotyping is common, but I thought I should address some of it for those who are not making the journey over the lake.
