It's the fourth quarter for my fellow Collegian seniors and me. I'm sure Papa Spear and the rest of the journalism department had a collective cringe with my lede, which began with probably the most cliche saying in sports, but it's true. This is our last issue together, and seniors throughout the campus are wrapping up their theses, projects and more as we prepare for what lies ahead.

The saying, "out with the old and in with the new," seems pertinent to a lot of things happening on campus this spring. Seemingly a negative connotation, "out with the old" is, in fact, a positive attribution. For instance, if the snow that infested every corner of campus this winter hadn't gone away by now, I would probably be cracked out in my shoebox-sized room right now, eating Slim Jims all day, instead of going outside and enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

The University of Richmond's track and field teams were forced to skip competition in the Patriot Games Tournament at George Mason University because of the snow last weekend, but despite missing one of the six meets the team uses to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, coaches Steve and Lori Taylor said they were optimistic that the teams would finish in the conference's top three.

Traynor, competing in nationals for the first time, will race in the women's 5,000-meter run on Wednesday. She will also blog about the experience.
