Richmond falls to St. Bonaventure, 58-45

The University of Richmond women's basketball team dropped a road conference game at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, and its record fell to 5-5 in the Atlantic 10 and 16-9 overall.

The Bonnies started strong with an 8-0 run, but Richmond responded and quickly cut the deficit to only 2. The Spiders then tied the game at 11, but that was as good as it would get for them.

Good 3-point shooting from the Bonnies improved their lead to 32-22 going into halftime. More 3s put the Spiders away during the second half.

The Bonnies were better from the field, converting 22-45 for 49 percent from the field whereas Richmond hit only 16-44 for 36 percent. St. Bonaventure also outrebounded the Spiders 30-24.

Sophomore Jessica Jenkins and Dana Mitchell both scored a team high 13 points for St. Bonaventure. Jenkins was 4-10 shooting 3s, and Mitchell scored 6-11 from the field.

St. Bonaventure contained the A-10's leading scorer, Brittani Shells, to only 2 points. Richmond Sophomore Abby Oliver led the Spiders with scored a team-high 16 points off of the bench.

The Spiders' next game is against St. Joseph's University at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Robins Center. It will be Senior Night for Danielle Bell and Nikita Thomas.
