Richmond moves up in AP Poll, enters ESPN/USA Today Poll

The University of Richmond men's basketball team moved up two spots to the No. 23 ranking in this week's Associated Press Poll and entered the ESPN/USA Today Poll at No. 24.

Last week, the Spiders were ranked No. 25 in the AP Poll, their first ranking in 24 years. The ESPN rankings did not include Richmond.

Richmond defeated Fordham University 84-56 two days after last week's rankings were released. The Spiders followed that with another victory on Saturday, this time beating George Washington University 74-70.

The Spiders are 22-6 this season and 11-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

In this week's AP Poll, Richmond is 23 votes behind No. 22 Texas A&M University. The Spiders are only 12 votes behind the Aggies in the ESPN Poll.

Richmond does not play again until Feb. 28 when it goes to play at Xavier University at 1 p.m. It will be a match-up of the top two teams in the A-10 and will be televised on ESPN2.
