Q&A with Matt Llano

Q: When did your love for running begin?

A: "My passion began to develop in my junior year in high school when I ran cross country for the first time, and ever since then, it's grown exponentially. It helped that I had an amazingly inspiring coach, a great training partner and a successful team."

Q: What drives you to run such long distances?

A: "I'm a really intrinsically motivated person, so most of my determination comes from wanting to maximize my own potential. I also want running to be my career, so in that way, I am preparing to enter the 'workforce' in the field of running. "

Q: What are your goals for the season?

A: "My first goal is for the team to win the A-10 championship. It has eluded us every season for the past four years and for some of us, it is our last chance. We want to place in the top two at the regional meet in order to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships, and at NCAAs, we want a top 15-20 finish."

Q: Do you foresee any challenges in accomplishing these goals?

A: "Nothing comes easily in running and every race is a challenge. We are very well-prepared going into the final stages of the season"
