Parker named defensive MVP of East vs. West Shrine Game

Former University of Richmond defensive tackle Martin Parker was named the defensive Most Valuable Player of Saturday afternoon's East vs. West Shrine Game held in Orlando, Fla.

Parker had two sacks, including one that forced the West team's quarterback to fumble the ball, in the East's 25-8 victory.

Parker was joined on the East team by former teammate Justin Rogers. The duo were the first Spiders to play in the annual all-star game since defensive end Lawrence Sidbury played in 2009.

Both players are preparing for the 2011 NFL Draft, which starts on April 28.
