A quick Q&A with: Kosh Kempter

Question: Based on recent news coverage, how well did Geraldine Ferraro pave the way for future women leaders?

Answer: "Geraldine Ferraro's run for vice president in 1984 contested the status quo and gave Americans the first opportunity to consider a woman taking a top position in the executive branch. Unfortunately, almost 30 years later, women are still struggling to break that glass ceiling. As we saw with Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, the possibility of a woman running on the presidential ticket remains unusual and controversial, despite how many other countries have elected women presidents. That being said, Ms. Ferraro's leadership and achievements represented a new era in which women can and should be able to be the nation's top leaders."
