Rapid Recap: Baseball loses third game of weekend

The baseball team lost the second game of their double header against Seton Hall University on Sunday afternoon, 6-2.

With Richmond's loss, Seton Hall swept the three-game weekend series, and lowered Richmond's record to 0-6.

The Spiders scored their only two runs in the first inning. Senior Chris Bell walked, sophomore Doug Kraeger doubled to bring him home, and junior Ryan Cook followed with an RBI-double of his own.

However, the bats went quiet for the rest of the game. The team had only three more hits after Kraeger's and Cook's.

Cook was Richmond's starting pitcher, and he threw four solid innings, despite letting Seton Hall establish an early lead. Cook gave up a total of five runs, four of which were earned, with three walks, four hits and eight strikeouts.

Junior Ray Harron pitched in relief of Cook, and gave up one more run on two hits and one walk over two innings.

Junior Zach Grossfeld pitched the final two innings of the game without allowing a run. He faced the minimum six batters and struck out one.

The game was called by the umpires after eight complete innings due to darkness.
