Sweet reminders to send to your long-distance BFF

One of my favorite feelings at college is getting that mid-afternoon email notification from the UR Post Office titled “package notification,” and I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way. Two minutes after receiving that email, you can be sure to see me sprinting across campus to URPO to tear the tape off my mysterious cardboard package with pure excitement. So my point is: sending gifts to friends and family is never a bad idea. Edible gifts? Even better. With midterms passing and finals approaching a little too quickly, everyone needs something sweet in their life. Here are some treats you can send to cheer up your sweetest long-distance friend. These are a foodie’s dream in a package.

1. Baked by Melissa Mini Cupcakes

These bite-sized cupcakes hit the spot with flavors ranging from mint cookie to tie-dye. They also have gluten free cupcake options. You can buy a 25-pack cupcake assortment for $20 plus shipping.

4. Edoughble Cookie Dough

Yes. Edible cookie dough. No raw eggs, preservatives, or artificial flavors to worry about. This stuff is seriously addicting and your friends won’t be able to stop after one spoonful of the birthday bash cookie dough. If you can’t choose which flavor to send to your BFF, a gift box of 5 flavors (five 4-ounce containers of pure dough) costs $35.

5. Wicked Good Cupcakes

Wicked Good Cupcakes sells an assortment of cupcakes, pies and brownies all packaged in an 8-ounce jar. Create your own 2-pack of their famous cupcake-in-a-jars for $19.95. I’ve tried to peanut butter surprise cupcake, and let’s just say I’ll be sending myself some of these very soon. Treat yourself, am I right?

6. Lou Malnati’s Pizza

Disclaimer: this last treat is salty, not sweet, but it is just as satisfying. For any Chicagoans, this is a taste of home. For those of you not from Chicago, Lou Malnati’s serves your classic Chicago deep-dish pizza. Words cannot describe my love for Lou Malnati’s pizza. Send them to your friend who loves to eat late night pizza by visiting TastesofChicago.com. They will get three frozen pizzas that they can pop in their microwaves or ovens at school. I promise you, they will not be disappointed.
