From game night to Black History Month celebration, check out the events happening this week.

Youth Climate Lobby Day

Tuesday 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This event, organized by GreenUR and in collaboration with the Virginia Conservation Network and Chesapeake Climate Action Network Action Fund, will provide students with the opportunity to meet with legislators and lobby for environmental policies. Training and transportation to the Virginia State Capitol will be covered. Click here to find out more about the event. 

French Game Night

Tuesday 6 p.m.

Join Cercle Français in the Westhampton Living Room for snacks, drinks and board games like Mille Bornes and Guillotine. 

Undergraduate Summer Research: A Q&A Session

Wednesday 6:30 p.m.

Join the undergraduate Research Committee in the commons 220 in the Humanities Building to learn more about research opportunities this summer. Committee members will answer questions about both the research projects and the online application process.

From a Moment to a Movement

Wednesday 7 p.m. - 8 p.m.

In the Westhampton Living Room, Chelsea Higgs Wise, an activist and clinical social worker, will discuss how to create equitable communication methods and how to turn a moment into a movement for change. Visit this website to see all Black History Month celebrations happening at UR.  

Richard Becker, Piano Recital

Wednesday 7:30 p.m.

The concert, hosted in Camp Concert Hall, will feature music from Ravel, Albeniz and Chopin. Becker will also perform his poetry and Nine Inventions for the Muses, an original set of short piano pieces. Tickets are not required for this event. 

Job & Internship Fair

Thursday 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Looking for a full-time position or an internship this summer? Taking place in the Queally Center, the Job & Internship Fair will allow students of all majors to connect with employers across different industries and broaden their networks. Business casual or business professional attire are recommended. Students can register here

Student Day of Action

Thursday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Hosted by the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, the Student Day of Action will be an opportunity for students to support and discuss influential policies affecting Virginians with other peers and elected state officials. All associated costs will be covered by the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement. Application can be found here

ChinaFest

Thursday to Sunday

This year marks the 18th ChinaFest, an annual tradition at the University of Richmond to celebrate Chinese culture and bolster the connection between the citizens of both China and the United States. Throughout four days of the event, there will be an opening lecture, a presentation from the Hometowns Project and multiple film screenings. The full schedule can be found here
