Week seven of the semester is here, which means spring break is only a week away. If you are looking to get involved, check out some activities happening on and off campus below.  

Mardi Gras Dinner

Tuesday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

In the Heilman Dining Center, there is a special dinner to celebrate Mardi Gras. The dinner menu includes a gumbo bar, jambalaya and king cake. Check out the full menu here.

Rethink Waste Basketball Game

Tuesday 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

As part of this year’s Campus Race to Zero Waste, the event aims to increase awareness of recycling and composting and to help redirect waste to its proper bin. The event is taking place in the Robins Center during the men’s basketball game against Saint Louis University. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, sign up here.

Extrodinoir: A Celebration of Black Talent

Thursday 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

As part of Black History Month celebration, there is a showcase to highlight Black talent on campus. The event is taking place in the Alice Haynes Room, and prizes will be presented to winners of the show. You can sign up to perform here.

Gender-Flexible Housing Roommate Mixer

Friday 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

If you are looking for gender-flexible housing for next year, the Office of Residence Life and Housing and the Student Center for Equity and Inclusion is hosting an information session in the Westhampton Living Room. Students will get to learn about the application process and participate in a roommate mixer.

Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m.

The University Dancers is hosting its 38th annual concert in the Alice Jepson Theater, featuring works from guest choreographers Stephanie Martinez and Charlotte Boye-Christensen. Works created by the department of theater and dance faculty Angelica Burgos, Anne Van Gelder, Deandra Clarke and Eric Rivera will also be presented. Tickets are free and can be reserved here.

Pet Expo

Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Are you missing your pet back home? Come to the Richmond Raceway Complex on 600 E. Laburnum Ave. for the 22nd annual Pet Expo. Throughout the event, there will be puppy races, a costume contest and dog adoptions. Proceeds from the event will support the Henrico Humane Society and its mission to rescue dogs and cats across Central Virginia. Tickets can be purchased here.
