Happy Monday Spiders! This weekend is Family Weekend at UR, so you can see some of my picks of activities to keep your parents entertained that aren’t just tailgating. But Family Weekend isn’t the only event in and around campus this week! Find some of my other favorites below.

Family Weekend a cappella concert

Four of UR’s talented, student-led a cappella groups will perform a concert in the Cannon Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 27. You can bring family and friends to sing along and support your fellow spiders! Tickets support the student a cappella group – you can get them here!

Westhampton Lake cleanup

If you’re looking to spend some time outdoors and give back to the campus community, help the Office for Sustainability and Rethink Waste clean up the Westhampton Lake this Friday, Sept. 26 from 12:30-2 p.m. Gloves, trash grabbers, water, and snacks will be provided – just bring your own reusable water bottle! More information can be found here

Paint and meditate at Pony Pasture

Artist Suzanne Vinson is working with SBNR and the Office for Sustainability to host a meditative river-side art session this Friday, Sept. 26 from 1-3 p.m. at Pony Pasture. The session will teach you how to paint using natural pigments made from river soil and water. The event is free with registration here, and transportation is included!

Franz Ferdinand at The National

So if you’re lonely….head over to The National on Friday, Sept. 26 for the band Franz Ferdinand, performing their sixth studio album The Human Fear live! If you love live music and/or indie rock, you won’t want to miss this! Get your tickets here

Here For Your: Mental Health Event

Panhellenic Council is hosting a mental health awareness event that is open to all on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 7-9 p.m. in Queally Admissions. The founder of Here For You Clothing, Ellie Haney, will share her own mental health journey and how she channeled her pain into purpose. You can also browse the pop-up shop after the event.
