Democratic incumbent Del. Michael Jones won the race for District 77 of the Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday night, defeating Republican Richard Stonage Jr in a landslide.

Jones, who won with about 76% of the vote, as of 9:30 p.m. He centered his campaign around education, economic mobility, justice reform, environment and women's health. According to his campaign website, Jones patroned HB 22, where he “advanced one of only two gun bills that the Governor did not veto during the 2024 legislative session.”

Jones was first elected in 2023, winning unopposed. The district, which was redistricted in 2020 has strongly voted for Democratic candidates in previous elections.

One of Jones’s top donors was the clean energy advocacy organization Clean Virginia Fund, which donated $75,000.

According to the Virginia Public Access Project, Jones’ campaign raised $296,467 compared to $10,256 from Stonage’s campaign.
