University of Richmond students, staff and faculty gathered on campus Friday for a silent march in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. The march, named Take Back oUR Night after protests in the 1970s against violence against women, began at noon on the lawn between the E. Claiborne Robins School of Business and the T.C. Williams School of Law and ended at the Westhampton Green after a student-led discussion.

Indonesian culture filled The Westhampton Green at 6 p.m. Sept. 21, inviting passersby to the space with traditional food, coffee, music, dance and martial arts. The event was a collaboration among on-campus and off-campus organizations to highlight the diversity of the country that consists of over 17,000 islands.

Indonesian culture filled The Westhampton Green at 6 p.m. Sept. 21, inviting passersby to the space with traditional food, coffee, music, dance and martial arts. The event was a collaboration among on-campus and off-campus organizations to highlight the diversity of the country that consists of over 17,000 islands. 


Welcome to Our Web hosted Spider Drop, the first event of its kind to welcome the new semester, on Aug. 22 in the Richmond Hall Quad. The event included the Ignite ceremony featuring candles and sparklers followed by a projection of the Richmond spider being dropped down Boatwright Tower.

The board announced on March 17 its decision to not rename Mitchell-Freeman and Ryland halls after the UR Black Student Coalition advocated for the names of Douglas Southall Freeman and Robert Ryland to be removed from the buildings.

University of Richmond students, faculty and staff gathered for a silent protest on March 26, 2021 outside of a Board of Trustees meeting at the Stern Plaza. Paint was placed over the names of Robert Ryland, Douglas Southall Freeman, T. Justin Moore, Jeremiah Bell Jeter, E. Claiborne Robins, Frederic Boatwright and Pauly Queally on University of Richmond campus signage over the course of several weeks in March. Black Lives Matter flags were also placed over signs beginning on March 25, 2021.

The event took place on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020. 


The Clothesline Project was featured in the Gottwald Center for the Sciences atrium on Tuesday, April 2. The project is meant to be a visual reminder of the sexual violence, incest and domestic violence that exists in the community. It also gives a voice to survivors and sparks discussion about these issues on UR's campus.
