Melissa Diamond, a junior, is taking this semester off from academic work to start a therapy program for children with autism in Jenin, a city in the West Bank. Diamond is the director and founder of A Global Voice for Autism, an organization that provides services for children with autism in communities around the world where these services were not previously available. The Jenin Autism Project is A Global Voice for Autism's first training program.

Bettering the world usually begins on small scales, such as helping the residents of an Indian slum have sanitary toilets or establishing a poultry farm for a Ugandan school. These are two examples of how University of Richmond students spent their summers through funding from the Projects for Peace initiative. The program is now seeking applications for $10,000 to use in summer 2014.

Junior Drika Bianchin, midfielder for the University of Richmond women's soccer team, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in less than two years. Bianchin, a native of Brazil, is recovering from surgery and said she hoped to return to the team this spring.
