I knew when I weighed the decision last spring whether to become editor or not that the year was going to be a long one. I knew I wouldn't be sleeping much, I'd be stressed and I would struggle to keep my perfectionist tendencies in check. I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did, learn as much from my intelligent and creative staff members as I did or be as proud as I have been.

Two years ago last week, Haitians were suffering and dying after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake ravaged their country while I and other sorority girls of the University of Richmond prepared to prep and welcome new recruits. All I could think was: "WHAT ARE WE DOING? PEOPLE ARE DYING!" and "Where did I put those red shoes and the silver picture frame?"

Drag, burlesque and boylesque performers put on a show in Perkins Recital Hall last Friday in the second installment of the "Androgenesque" program. The show was sponsored by Student Alliance for Sexual Diversity, Boom Boom Basics Burlesque Studio, Gay RVA, Gay Community Center of Richmond, and Jon Henry Art. Donations were taken at the door to benefit the Gay Community Center of Richmond, Henry said.

President Barack Obama addressed a packed Robins Center Friday morning to talk about his American Jobs Act. Crowds started gathering at 6 a.m., about five and a half hours before Obama's appearance. Once inside, Obama's roughly 25-minute speech covered not only his jobs plan but also the necessity for a stable long-term economy.

Richmond's club crew teams competed in the Occoquan Sprints Regatta in Fairfax, Va., at the Sandy Run Marina on Sunday, April 3, 2011. This was the team's second regatta of the season. On April 16, the team will compete in the Kerr Cup, in Philadelphia, Pa, the last regatta of the season. The team practices Monday through Friday at Robious Landing Park on the James River to prepare for regattas.
