Throughout October, University of Richmond's Office of Common Ground has been busy hosting its annual UR Comes Out: a series of speakers, receptions and interactive workshops celebrating LGBTQ History Month on campus.

The University of Richmond field hockey team went ahead of Saint Francis University 4-0 in the first 15 minutes and never let the Red Flash back in to the game. Saint Francis scored at the end of the first half, and the game did not see its last goal until Amy Cook scored for the Spiders to end the game with a score of 6-1.
Junior Drika Bianchin, midfielder for the University of Richmond women's soccer team, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in less than two years. Bianchin, a native of Brazil, is recovering from surgery and said she hoped to return to the team this spring.
Many students involved in Sophomore Scholars in Residence (SSIR) programs traveled to different domestic and international cities over Fall Break.
"An assault weapon doesn't exist," said Kyle Linardo, a junior majoring in leadership studies and political science. He said people in favor of regulating guns often construed semi-automatic weapons such as an AR-15, which fire one shot per trigger pull, as assault weapons.

Richmond alumna Lesley Shinbaum leads various chants to attract the attention of passersby. Chants included "Keep Ken out of my vagina!" in reference to Cuccinelli's stance on access to abortions.

The Center for Civic Engagement and the Office of the Chaplaincy hosted University of Richmond's eighth annual poverty simulation on Oct. 7, attended by more than 50 student participants. During the simulation, students were required to role-play the lives of low-income families by securing food, shelter and other basic necessities for a month. The entire simulation lasted for approximately one hour.
The women's field hockey team dominated Appalachian State University on Saturday in a game that finished with a score of 8-1.
The Quiz Bowl Club is now offering a fun and competitive way for students to show off just how much they know. The group meets Fridays at 6 p.m. in the second-floor lounge of Jepson Hall.
The men's basketball team opened official practice on Sept. 26 amidst Robins Center renovations.

Of the various student clubs and organizations manning tables in the Tyler Haynes Commons, one has maintained a consistent presence since the beginning of this semester, with a simple question for passing students: Are you registered to vote?
With the addition of a new full-time employee at the Weinstein Center for Recreation and Wellness, the gym has been able to increase participation in its outdoor adventure club, Natural High.
