Field Hockey:
Coming off a loss last week against Hampton University, the University of Richmond football team played against the University of Maine Black Bears at Robins Stadium Oct. 7 for breast cancer awareness.
Few ever get the chance to suit up for their country and compete on a national stage.
Cross Country
After five straight losses, four of which came against conference opponents, the University of Richmond women’s soccer team picked up its elusive first Atlantic 10 win 2-1 over St. Bonaventure University Oct. 1.
The University of Richmond Spiders hosted one of their state rivals, the Hampton University Pirates, Saturday in Robins Stadium. UR hosted Spider families for family weekend and they came in large numbers to show their Spider pride and to cheer on the football squad.
The University of Richmond field hockey team lost 4-3 against Lock Haven University on Crenshaw field in a close game Sept. 29.
University of Richmond men’s lacrosse player Dalton Young was selected by the Philadelphia Wings in the third round of the National Lacrosse League Draft Sept. 16.
Women’s Soccer
Tropical Storm Ophelia was no match for the Spiders as the University of Richmond field hockey team defeated Saint Louis University 5-2 in a rainy matchup at Crenshaw Field Sept. 23.
The University of Richmond women’s soccer team sought to secure its first conference win in three games in a matchup against George Mason University on Sept. 21, though fell just short in a 1-0 loss.
Women’s Soccer
A late offensive push by the Saint Joseph’s University women’s soccer team turned the University of Richmond’s 2-1 advantage into a 3-2 loss in the Spiders’ conference home opener on Sept. 17.
The University of Richmond football team cruised past Delaware State University with a dominating final score of 38-6 on Sept. 16.

Former University of Richmond football player Kobie Turner, ‘21, played in his first NFL game Sept. 10 in the Los Angeles Rams’ season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
Women’s Soccer
The University of Richmond women’s soccer team lost 3-2 against the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on President’s Field in a back-and-forth game on Sept. 10.
After an overtime loss to American University two days prior, the University of Richmond field hockey team defeated Georgetown University 4-1 Sept. 3, capping off a four-game homestand to start the season.
More than 6,000 were in attendance at Robins Stadium as the University of Richmond football team commenced their 2023 season against Morgan State University.
