The University of Richmond football team staged a comeback to score a narrow victory over Howard University with a score of 13-12 on Saturday, Sept. 27.
If you had told someone the University of Richmond football team would still be playing in December after starting their season 2-3, they probably wouldn’t have believed you.
At UR, Turner, who studied mathematics and music and sang in two of UR’s musical groups – Schola Cantorum and Choeur Du Roi – picked up 158 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. He also forced 4 fumbles – 3 of which he returned – and scored 2 touchdowns.
However, NC Central would go on to control the first half, leaving the Spiders’ chances of winning a first-round postseason game for the second year in a row up in the air.
Last season, the Spiders hosted Davidson College in the first round of the playoffs and defeated the Wildcats 41-0. Such a large margin of victory gave then-redshirt first-year quarterback Kyle Wickersham the opportunity to get some playing time in the postseason.

“Every single week, we’re looking at where we stand [in the CAA],” Louis said in a postgame press conference. “Going into this game… we were very focused on winning, doing whatever we could.”
The game ended with a Spiders timeout with 0:41 left in the game. The final score was 19-3.
The last minutes of the game were grueling for Tech and UR, with each team playing a strong offense but an even stronger defense.
