The Spiders took care of business for the first game of the season, stifling North Carolina Central University 70-60 at the E. Claiborne Robins Center.
The Spiders got off to a quick 7-0 lead in the first four minutes, forcing the Panthers to take a timeout.
“My life has been about giving my all to everything,” Turner said. “Everything to football, everything to music.”
Lanchbury is the first Spider to be drafted. He will return to play for the Spiders in 2022, and start his career for the Georgia Swarm in the 2022-2023 season.
The Spiders stayed composed throughout the game, unlike the fans, and were able to come out with their fourth consecutive season-opening win.
In its fifth year as a program -- and first season since the COVID-19 pandemic -- the team finished undefeated for the first time after its final tournament.
The Spiders scored four touchdowns, two of which -- scored by Kobie Turner and Tyler Dressler -- took place while the UR was on defense.

Sunday marked the UR women's soccer team's first appearance in the A-10 postseason since 2014, closing their season with a 7-10-1 record.
The game ended with a Spiders timeout with 0:41 left in the game. The final score was 19-3.
For UR’s head coach Matt Barany, using "Ted Lasso" for team bonding was just one of the many ways he tinkered with his championship team.
The last minutes of the game were grueling for Tech and UR, with each team playing a strong offense but an even stronger defense.
“Something that always kept me going was the kids in the stands,” Anthony Shew said. “To get to be somebody’s hero for a little bit, that was always nice.”
The energy in Robins Stadium for the Spiders’ season opener was lively. Tailgaters and a crammed student section brought high energy to the field.
After 11 months of no competition, the Spiders opened up their season with a 19-10 win over Radford.
Air Force’s offense started the game hot, winning the first three faceoffs and scoring the first two goals of the game.
The Spiders have relied on depth in a lineup that contains a good mix of young players and veterans.
