Final Score: Richmond 71 - Delaware 69 What Happened: Two made foul shots from Kendall Anthony with 2.3 seconds remaining lifted the Spiders over Delaware, 71-69, in the first game played in the renovated Robins Center.

Field hockey downs St. Joe's in final regular season game

Last Sunday on Senior Day, Richmond destroyed whatever hopes St. Joseph's had of making the Atlantic 10 tournament with a 5-0 shutout win. Richmond, who had already guaranteed itself a spot in the tournament as the 2 seed, was hoping to finish off the regular season strong.

Women's field hockey team scores a 7-2 victory over La Salle

The University of Richmond field hockey team quickly recovered after a slow start and scored four second-half goals en route to a 7-2 win over the La Salle University Explorers Friday. Richmond scored twice early in the game, though La Salle scored its first goal in the 24th minute of the game.


Cross Country

Cross country competes at A-10 championships

The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country teams finished eighth and second, respectively, in the Atlantic 10 conference championship meet at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., Saturday. Senior Jill Prentice led the women's team, coming in second place with a time of 17:02.7 over the 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) race.

Spiders beat Albany, 27-10, in homecoming game

A strong running game and four field goals from Brandon Jordi, which tied a school record for field goals in a single game, helped University of Richmond (3-6, 1-4 CAA) end a four-game losing streak and win its first conference game Saturday against University at Albany (1-8, 0-5), 27-10. "I said in the locker room after the game, 'Hats off to two guys: Brandon Jordi...and Seth Fisher,'" Richmond coach Danny Rocco said. The Spiders rushed for 192 yards in the game, which is the most they have rushed for in a single game since a win over Liberty University Sep.

Rocco discusses football players' pre-game hotel stays

The University of Richmond athletic department annually budgets an undisclosed amount so the football team can sleep in hotels the night before home games, a practice common among almost every team in Division I football. It is not the athletic department's policy to give exact budget figures, but athletic department officials said this undisclosed amount came from private donations specified by the donor. Danny Rocco, Richmond's head coach, said the tradition was necessary for game-day performance.

Women's soccer plays no-score game against Massachusetts

The University of Richmond women's soccer team went head-to-head with University of Massachusetts on Sunday in a defense-oriented game that resulted in a 0-0 draw. Richmond successfully prevented the Massachusetts attack from doing damage, with goalie Emily Kelly making seven saves.
