Healy leads women's basketball to victory against George Mason

Olivia Healy missed a triple double by three assists, as more than 1,400 students and faculty from 22 local schools watched University of Richmond (8-10, 2-3 Atlantic 10) push past the George Mason University Patriots (6-12, 0-5 A-10) in overtime, 67-64, Wednesday afternoon. Healy, a first-year player who finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, broke out of a small slump, as she had not scored in double figures in the previous three games. "The pull-up was there a lot," Healy said.

Spiders hold on to beat Northeastern on New Years Eve

BOSTON, Mass. -- Northeastern nearly ruined University of Richmond's New Years, as the Huskies overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to tie the game with less than three minutes remaining, but Richmond pulled out the 70-66 victory. Northeastern tied the game at 64 with 2:07 remaining, but Richmond regained the lead on four consecutive points from Cedrick Lindsay.

Men's basketball falls to UNC 82-72

Despite a career-high 29 points from Cedrick Lindsay, University of Richmond fell to No. 24 University of North Carolina in the first semifinal of the Hall of Fame Tipoff at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

JMU Dukes beat Spiders 78-70

James Madison University (3-0) out-rebounded University of Richmond 55-30 as it beat the Spiders, 78-70, in the Robins Center Thursday night. The Dukes had 24 offensive rebounds that led to 22 second-chance points.

Storylines: 1) The "South's Oldest Rivalry" - Saturday will be the 120th time rivals Richmond (5-6) and William and Mary play in the "South's Oldest Rivalry." In 2009, the rivalry was officially named the Capital Cup, and now there is a trophy that goes to the winning team.
