Terrance West led No. 6 Towson (8-1, 4-1 CAA) to a 48-32 victory over Richmond (2-6, 0-4) Saturday in Robins Stadium. West, who is the Football Championship Subdivision leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, had a career-high 272 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown to give the Tigers their ninth-straight road win. Richmond head coach Danny Rocco said a lot of West's runs had been schematically defended well, but West's physicality made it difficult to tackle him. "He is explosive and he really refuses to go down," Rocco said. After Richmond failed to score on its opening series, West took his second carry 79 yards, which set up his six-yard touchdown reception. His long run was important because it got both him and the team going, West said. Despite West's dominating performance, Richmond hung in the game for a while thanks to Richmond's passing offense.
Spider soccer (5-8-2) fell to Duquesne (5-8-2), 2-0, on Richmond's senior night despite outshooting the Dukes 16-11.

The University of Richmond field hockey team went ahead of Saint Francis University 4-0 in the first 15 minutes and never let the Red Flash back in to the game.
Although a 2-5 record is the last thing the University of Richmond football team expected to have at this point in the season, the team said it would have a chance to turn it around this weekend when Towson, ranked sixth nationally in the Football Championship Subdivision, visits Robins Stadium. In a postgame interview following last week's loss to the University of Rhode Island, head coach Danny Rocco was candid about Richmond's winless record in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Junior Drika Bianchin, midfielder for the University of Richmond women's soccer team, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in less than two years.
The chips are on the table; starting Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox, two teams that faced each other in the 2004 World Series, will square off again for a shot at the 2013 title.

Just over a year, to date, University of Richmond men's cross country coach Steve Taylor can tell you the exact moment he realized the track and field program was in jeopardy. Taylor said the team was out on River Road doing a workout that morning when he received a text from an athletics official saying former athletic director Jim Miller wanted to meet. "That morning, I'll never forget it." Taylor said.

The Appalachian State Mountaineers (2-8) were held to just six shots in their visit to University of Richmond. After starting the season on a four-game losing streak, the Spiders have won six of their last seven games, putting them at 6-5 on the season. The Spiders came out of the gate hot and got ahead 5-0 just before halftime.
