The saying, "out with the old and in with the new," seems pertinent to a lot of things happening on campus this spring. Seemingly a negative connotation, "out with the old" is, in fact, a positive attribution. For instance, if the snow that infested every corner of campus this winter hadn't gone away by now, I would probably be cracked out in my shoebox-sized room right now, eating Slim Jims all day, instead of going outside and enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

Many students at the University of Richmond enjoyed Saturday's snowfall from the comfort of their on-campus dorms and apartments. Some went sledding on the hill in front of Boatwright Memorial Library, some trekked to the Heilman Dining Center in their water-resistant rain boots and others remained content to wander the grounds and take in the snow-covered sights.

Picture this: You're waiting in line at the Pier the person behind you is undoubtedly too close, and the girl in front is probably holding up the line while she texts her four BFFs about all her homework. During your wait, the bagel in the toaster goes up in flames while its owner flirts with the girl from his French class. The smoke sends you into an asthma attack. Quickly, you and your Converse sneaks run out those awesome new sliding glass doors, into the fresh air.

A raccoon was captured by University of Richmond Police officers Friday afternoon after it attempted to enter Boatwright Memorial Library and showed signs of being rabid.

This week librarians Betty Dickie and Catherine Clements posted the most frequently challenged books of 2007 on signs in front of Boatwright Memorial Library to remind students that they should celebrate their freedom to read and to ensure that such freedoms are safegaurded by practicing their rights and voting in the coming election.
