The Richmond field hockey team beat the James Madison University Dukes Sunday afternoon, recording its second consecutive shutout victory at Crenshaw Field. Sophomore Amy Cooke scored the game's only goal with a penalty stroke 18 minutes into the first half.
Gardner-Webb kicker Jason Day made his fourth field goal of the game with 29 seconds remaining to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs over Richmond, 12-10. Richmond beat Gardner-Webb, 41-8, last season at E. Claiborne Robins Stadium.

The women's field hockey team had its first win of the season Saturday afternoon in a dominating 6-0 performance against Davidson College.
Final Score: Gardner-Webb 12 - Richmond 10
Storylines:
After the dismantling of the men's varsity soccer program last year, former players are filling up new free time with other campus activities.
The score was the same, but the number next to Richmond on the final box score was reversed.
The University of Richmond is currently working on a $2 million renovation of Henry M. Cannon Memorial Chapel. The work has altered several on-campus events, including forcing Proclamation Night to be rescheduled for Nov. 10.
The women's soccer team will be without its All-American senior Becca Wann for the remainder of the season.

The women's soccer team took the field at Robins Stadium Friday night against the Longwood Lancers in its first home game of the season. Despite a 0-0 tie, the young Spider back line showed how tough it could be for years to come.
Richmond football's 2012 season ended in bittersweet fashion.
