Claiborne Robins Stadium, where thousands of University of Richmond students once gathered to cheer on their home team during the Capital Cup against rival school the College of William & Mary, remains fanless four weeks into the fall semester. But despite the postponement of the football season, the Spiders find themselves looking to make a comeback against their biggest rival yet: COVID-19.
Because of the University of Richmond’s COVID-19 safety regulations and social distancing guidelines, many outdoor campus spaces have become popular spots to eat, do homework or socialize.

Sophomores Junko Takahashi and Sabrina Munro opened a chapter of the COVID-19 Student Service Corps (CSSC) on April 8 with the goal of creating student-learning service projects to aid pandemic relief efforts.

With UR’s move to remote learning, many seniors were left without extensive resources, which makes a job or internship search appear daunting at first glance. Searching for a job during senior year of college can be so stressful that many students at the University of Richmond begin to worry about it long before their senior fall.

University of Richmond alumnus David Raiser, ’06, and his team at Aldatu Biosciences have developed a testing kit for detecting COVID-19 that is being used by one of Boston’s major hospitals, according to an Aldatu press release on March 19.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread throughout the world, summer internships and research opportunities are being canceled or altered. University of Richmond students are working to find internship and job opportunities for the summer and figuring out the logistics of remote internships.
