An Obama progress report: I'd rather be waterboarded

Now that it has been nine months since President Obama took office, I hope we can all agree on one thing: The only change he brought with him to the White House was a darker complexion, a funky last name and a new hammer and sickle decoration for the Oval Office.

His empty speeches of soaring rhetoric have proven to be just that, and rather than reversing the fiscal irresponsibility of the previous administration, he's made it a lot worse. In just nine months he has spent trillions of dollars; to Bush's credit, it took him eight years to do that.

He hung the Iranian people out to dry while defending a president in Honduras who illegally tried to run again for president. Obama's promise to end the war in Iraq was a joke, because it was ending before he was even elected. Even his promise to close Guantanamo has yet to be realized.

Thankfully, he has found time to make an appearance on David Letterman, share his feelings on Kanye dissing Taylor Swift and hit the links more times than I can count. Many people, including those of you who find yourself on the left of the political spectrum, dismiss the idea that Obama is anything other than a Democrat (some of you might even call him a moderate).

We need to stop lying to ourselves; this man is a socialist, perhaps not in the terms of the former Soviet Union, but in the sense of Euro-Socialism, the formation of a welfare state and total control held by the federal government.

Those of you who enjoy sucking Obama's teet will probably scream and whine and say outrageous things such as I am a neo-con and that Obama is simply cleaning up the mess from the previous administration. To start, I am not a neo-con, but rather a libertarian who loves this country greatly and who simply wants to be as free as possible.

I will agree with you that there is much work to be done to correct some of the mistakes of the past. But to what degree will we allow Obama to continue blaming the past on his present actions? I get it, Bush sucked. So do we now give up and allow Obama and his fellow socialists (and yes, so far there are five self-identified socialists advising the president) change this country forever?

In what way, shape or form does further government intervention sound good or make any logical sense? Those of you who support his ridiculous plans for this country must either be missing a chromosome or be a socialist as well, because no one with a functioning brain could support this man's ridiculous plan for the country.

It seemed as though overnight we have decided we no longer want to work at democracy. We'd rather let the government control things. Everything from a public health care option, to Cash for Clunkers and government bail-outs are nothing more than further ways the government can control you.

How dare the U.S. government bail out banks and the auto industry - what happened to personal responsibility? For example, Cash for Clunkers aimed to help get older cars off the road, as well as provide some economic stimulus to the doomed auto industry. Now is it me or is taking taxpayer dollars from those who do well and giving them to companies that can't seem to figure anything out a transfer of wealth?

How can the government possibly show favoritism to one industry over others? This would be the equivalent of a professor at Richmond giving out automatic As to students who might fail the semester (and I doubt this is far away either). All of these things point to the greatest threat our country is facing today: radical egalitarianism.

No matter where we look today, whether it be in schools, firehouses or even in the corporate world, we are forced to swallow the idea that we are all special. Let me be the first to say (at least in this newspaper) that we aren't. In fact, most people just straight up suck.

Let's take a look at the Ricci case, which our new wise Latina Justice ruled on. Firefighters were denied a job promotion based on the color of their skin. The white men were told that because no minorities did as well, the tests would be thrown out and no one would receive a raise.

We will never be completely equal in our lives. Our equality does not stem from how much money we make or whether we have health care or how we do on a test.

Rather, it stems from those rights that can never be taken away regardless of monetary value, rights that cannot be paid for because we are born with them. That is what our forefathers meant when they discussed equality. Even men such as Martin Luther King knew this (which is probably why he was a Republican).

I do believe that those who are less fortunate do deserve the help of those who have more, but the government can never force you to do so. Charity is something you want to give to or not, and that is your choice. That is your FREEDOM.

Unfortunately, Euro-Socialists such as Obama will never understand that the equality he hopes to see is only possible with further government interference in our lives. Men like Obama would rather see equality through poverty than equality through liberty. It's easy to stand there and say that everyone in this nation deserves health care, but it comes at an extremely heavy price: your freedom.

At this rate, in a few years everyone will deserve a decent home to live in, then a decent car to drive. Pretty soon we will all live in identical homes, with identical cars and go to work at our great government-provided jobs where we all earn the same living. Any sense of individuality will disappear, and rather than respecting our Constitution, we will start respecting the wills and wishes of other nations first.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Age of Obama, or as I like to call it, the Age of American Pussyism, where working hard gets you nowhere and doing nothing gets you anything you could ever want. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be waterboarded.
