Behind the syllabus: Kevin Pelletier

What do you do during the weekends?

Friday night is homemade-pizza night, and it has been for about five years now. Kendra (my wife) makes the best pizzas in Richmond. There is no doubt in my mind. Then we play cards with friends (I descend from a long and illustrious line of card players, and I will take your money). Saturday and Sunday I spend with Kendra and my son, Emerson. If we can catch an episode or two of Friday Night Lights, we consider it a good weekend. "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose."

What's the craziest thing you did when you were in college?

The day I turned 21, I went to a poetry reading. That's the craziest thing I did. Honestly.

What's one thing your students would never guess about you?

I was in several rock'n'roll bands during and after college, and thought about pursuing music as a career. I'm still an aspiring rock star at heart, but this dream is looking less and less likely with each passing year. I was also the starting shortstop for my college baseball team. I can barely climb a flight of stairs without getting winded.
