• Not only are the New York Jets being investigated by the NFL after a few players made catcalls directed at TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz while she was waiting to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez Saturday at the Jets' practice facility, but Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis just got slapped on the wrist for his outspoken comments about Sainz. Portis said, "I think you put women reporters in the locker room in position to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of a sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room. I think men are going to tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman." Portis apologized through the Redskins after the league swiftly condemned his comments as inappropriate and offensive. I love Portis, but he can't be that full of himself until he can average more than four yards per carry. I think when you put women reporters in the locker room, they're more concerned about how THEY look on-camera than what the "hottie wit da body" looks like post-practice. Hot, sweaty mess if you ask me.

• So, James Madison University beat Virignia Tech in football last Saturday. Let that sink in for a moment. Tech suffered its second loss in six days, the first being to Boise State in a thriller at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. Tech can shelve its national championship talk that prevailed throughout preseason until next year. Va. Tech is the second ranked team to lose to a lower division team, the first being when No. 5 Michigan fell to Appalachian State in 2007. Want to know the last time Tech lost to an FCS school? Richmond defeated the Hokies in 1985, 24-14. How 'bout dem Spiders?

• The last time Team USA won a gold medal at the FIBA World Championship was in 1994, and tournament MVP Kevin Durant was only six-years-old. With this year's win, Team USA and coach Mike Krzyzewski received automatic bids to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. So much for Durant and company's nickname of "B-Team," since powerhouses Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and others decided to sit at home and polish their bronze FIBA World Championship medals instead.

• New York Mets' closer Francisco Rodriguez is in trouble again. This time it is for apologizing. Rodriguez was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment after a scuffle with his father-in-law at Citi Field following an Aug. 11 game. Authorities said in court Tuesday that Rodriguez violated an order of protection by sending his girlfriend 56 text messages apologizing and urging a resolution. They said he would now be charged with criminal contempt. Common sense says that if the first text doesn't work, 55 more won't make much of a difference.
