Important Stats: UR's Darien Brothers (5-5, 3-3 from three-point range, 13 pts, 5 rebounds), UR's Greg Robbins (4-6, 9 pts), W&M's Kyle Gillard (6-6, 13 pts), W&M's Tim Rusthoven (4-8, 10 pts), UR: 7-7 FT's, W&M outscoring UR in paint, 20-8.
Analysis: Pretty well-played half from two teams that appear evenly matched, which is not what the Spiders wanted coming into this game. The Tribe are having their way with the Spiders in the paint, with a majority of their points in the lane, often on driving layups. Gillard is proving a tough matchup, and UR coach Chris Mooney may need to look into double-teaming him in the second half to get him off his rhythm. UR's Derrick Williams and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa also need to do a better job keeping Rusthoven off the offensive glass. Offensively, it's all Brothers as usual for Richmond at home; he just doesn't miss in the Robins Center this season. Cedrick Lindsay looks fine coming off his concussion that kept him out Richmond's last two games, but still has yet to have a bust-out offensive performance that Spider fans know he's capable of from last season.
What to look for in the second half: Keep an eye on Richmond's foul trouble among its guards, as Brothers, Wayne Sparrow and Kendall Anthony all have two fouls. If one or more of them picks up a quick foul or two, Mooney will be forced to change his gameplan. Also look for Richmond to come out with a defensive gameplan designed to slow down Gillard in the second half. On offense, these are the type of games where UR needs to go on a run and Richmond runs are usually spurred by Anthony and Brothers.
