Marked and unmarked University Police cars were parked outside of the 470 block of the University Forest Apartments on Saturday, Aug. 25, after a UR alert reported an armed robbery there.

After a long investigation, the young male suspect of the armed robbery that occurred on campus on Aug. 25 has been identified as Tyreek William Cox, according to the University Police.

On the night of upperclassmen move-in day, students at the University of Richmond received a UR Alert at 11:14 p.m, warning them of an armed robbery at the 470 block of the University Forest Apartments.

On that Saturday night, a female student was a victim of the armed robbery. No injuries were described, according to an earlier report.

The suspect, at the time, was asking students on campus where to buy marijuana before the incident that night, according to an email sent to students from URPD after the incident.

Tyreek William Cox has been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to URPD.

“This case will remain open until it goes to court," assistant chief of police Beth Simonds said.

Although Cox is believed to have left the area, URPD will keep the case open and the investigation ongoing, in hopes of finding the suspect, Simonds said.
