Happy Monday, Spiders! Halloween is two weeks away, and there are plenty of ways to get in the spirit. Here are some events happening this week.
WDCE 90.1 FM and Modlin Arts Student Ambassadors Gothic Open Mic Night
On Friday, Oct. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Current, MASA and WDCE are hosting a Halloween-themed open mic with spooky mocktails, Polaroid photography and live performances. All talents are welcome! You can sign-up to perform here.
Chop Shop: Cuts and Conversation
On Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m., the Hub for Student Inclusion & Community will host a Chop Shop event centered on the cultural and communal role of barbershops. Free food, hair care products and conversation are open to all, and you can even register to get a haircut!
Celebrate Diwali at Queally Center
The South Asian Student Alliance invites the campus community to a Diwali celebration on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy traditional performances, South Asian cuisine, live music and cultural festivities marking the Festival of Lights.
Relay for Life Pickleball Tournament
Head out to the pickleball courts on Friday, Oct. 24, at 11:30 a.m. for a tournament to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is hosting the competition, and entry is $10 per team. You can sign up here.
Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival
The annual Pumpkin Festival returns this Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Mid-Town Green. There will be food vendors, drinks, live music and a children’s area. You can even check out the three costume contests for a chance to win gift cards and cash prizes. More details here.
